Another year has flown by and
another bumper year for the
World Boxing Federation in
respect of number of fights and
ventures into new countries. As
we move towards Christmas and
2018 it’s a time to reflect not
only on boxing but on family and
life in general.
Nothing is more important than
family and spending quality time
with one’s loved ones. Often as
boxing administrators we find
ourselves on the move all the
time often far away from our
family and this is a time for
being at home and taking stock
of one’s life.
Although I have
one
more shows this year, in
Swakopmund, Namibia
on December 29,
even I as President will find
time to spend New Year’s eve at
home with my family. A barbecue,
a few beers or maybe even a
whiskey or two – but certainly
I’m not answering any boxing
calls on New Year’s eve.
There are so many people
connected to the WBF who deserve
to be praised and thanked, so
rather than committing the
cardinal sin of carelessly
omitting anything, I would like
to collectively thank the entire
team for their tireless efforts,
their incredible dedication,
their unwavering commitment, but
above all the unique loyalty
shown to one another in the WBF
team.
To the WBF representatives
around the world who secure
title fights in their regions,
to the promoters around the
world who work with us, to the
fighters who participate in WBF
title fights, to the champions
who conduct themselves in such a
professional manner, to the
various committees of the WBF
who add knowledge and who give
such sound advice, to our
website team, to our secretary –
a massive thank you from me, the
WBF is indebted to you for all
your efforts.
But most important is the
contribution of all the family
members connected with the
previously mentioned WBF
personnel. It is all of you who
allow us the time and freedom to
pursue our passion – that is to
grow and develop the WBF into a
classy, professional world
sanctioning body which places
integrity and honesty above all
else.
I wish you all a Merry Christmas
and may 2018 be blessed with
good health, success and love.
Until next time, keep boxing.
