After spending three working
days in Tirana, Albania where
Ylli Ndroqi was inducted as the
‘Honarary’ President of the
WBFed, the executive members who
were in attendance, Howard
Goldberg, Toni Tiberi, Ron Scalf,
Jean Marcel Nartz and Olaf
Schroeder have been hard at work
following up on all the exciting
policies and structures for 2010
initiated at this meeting in
Tirana.
The first ever convention is due
to be held in Tirana, Albania
tentatively on 22, 23 and 24
April – information in this
regard will be posted on our
website in the next few days.
Having been to several
conventions over the years, I am
convinced that while day to day
business needs to be discussed
at such an event, more important
is the meeting of boxing
officials, administrators,
managers, promoters, trainers
and boxers, where old and new
stories can be shared among
friends. It is extremely
important to meet up with old
mates, share a glass of wine,
have a laugh and simply talk
boxing!
Vice President Ron Scalf has
been very busy reigniting the
WBFed flame in the US, while
Olaf Schroeder is hugely busy
with the European front. In
Africa, WBFed fights will take
place in South Africa in March
and April, while countries such
as Botswana, Namibia and Ghana
will be staging WBFed title
fights for the first time ever –
such is the interest and demand
in the new World Boxing
Federation.
Our aim for 2010 is no different
from last year. We want world
class world champions, excellent
match-ups, and we want to
provide huge opportunities for
world rated fighters who are not
afforded the opportunities
elsewhere.
I wish everyone a safe,
successful and happy 2010.
Until next time, keep boxing.
Howard Goldberg

Federation
