The last few months have been
extremely rewarding as we
continue our quest to improve,
to acquire world class
champions, and to open new doors
to enable deserving fighters the
opportunity to fight for
legitimate titles.
A quick look at our champions
both men and women, and we have
unquestionably a group of top
world class fighters. Mexico has
been a breath of fresh air and
our relationship with them has
been cemented by the hard work
done by our representative in
that area, Sergio Sotelo. Names
such as Juan 'Goofy' Montes,
Marco Antonio Rubio who hold our
belts, and with legend Humberto
Soto fighting for our title –
the term world class certain is
applicable to that area.
I visited Ghana and Colombia in
the past month or so and was
impressed by the passion and
commitment of the boxing
fraternity in both
countries. Ghana is blessed with
so much untapped talent just
waiting to explode on the world
circuit and I believe a strong
relationship with Ghana in
affording these fighters bigger
and better opportunities is
about to open up.
My Colombian visit was certainly
an adventure and I left feeling
almost like a brother to the
promoter and his team, such was
the outstanding hospitality
shown to me. Super Middleweight
Alexander Brand now 19-1 with 15
ko’s, outclassed and outthought
former world champion William
Gare winning every round. A
humble man is Brand and a pretty
good fighter, and it is not
impossible to see Brand seeking
out Rubio early in the next
year.
I am extremely proud to preside
over an organization that is
going places, an organization
with integrity and principles
and an organization that stands
by what is right. An
organization with outstanding
administrators and an
organization with the highest
standards. 2012 has been a
wonderful year thus far, but we
are only beginning. God bless
you all!
Until next time, keep boxing.
