So the first
five years (almost) since the
restructuring of the World
Boxing Federation have flown by.
More than 250
championship bouts in this time,
and we, I believe
wholeheartedly, have made
massive strides forwards in our
men's division, and are now
arguably the top sanctioning
body in the world with regard to
woman’s boxing.
We have built
up in that time a considerably
powerful team of administrators
whose commitment, dedication and
passion has collectively put us
deservedly in a position of
strength.
The important
thing to note is that while we
have had a positive half-decade,
our work has only just begun as
we continue to strive in setting
the highest standards while
following our philosophy of
honesty, integrity, transparency
and professionalism, coupled
with the vital fact that we will
continue to keep our belts
meaningful and will never, as is
the case elsewhere, create a
conglomeration of ridiculous
belts simply for financial
reward.
The boxing
public deserve better than being
bombarded with belts with the
most ridiculous of titles
offered elsewhere.
The World
Boxing Federation holds its
annual AGM in Cologne, Germany
this weekend, and I am looking
forward to meeting up with our
Executive Board Members whose
hard work is acknowledged and
applauded by me. These members
are like a close-knit family and
the passion and enthusiasm
expected during a weekend of
hard work, and possibly one
relaxing dinner, will be of the
highest level.
As we enter
our presidential elections, I
would like to personally thank
each and every member of the
World Boxing Federation for
their diligence and commitment,
and for mostly making my life as
WBF President easy and
enjoyable.
A toast to
another great five years ahead.
Cheers!
Until next time, keep boxing.
