Jayson “Smasher” Mama won the vacant
World Boxing Federation (WBF)
International Super Flyweight title
on Thursday, July 11, in Malungon,
Philippines.
In an all-Filipino match-up at the
Sunken Arena, and with Malungon
mayor Tessa Constantino at ringside,
Mama defeated Carlo Demecillo by
unanimous decision.
After a well-boxed affair, judges
Brembot Dulalas, Jaime Mata and
Marlou Neri all scored the fight
98-92 in favour of Mama.
The new WBF champion, who is a
former WBO regional titlist and IBF
world title-challenger, improved his
record to 20-1 (10).
Demecillo, also a former WBO
champion and three-time Philippines
national champion, falls to 17-9-2
(10).
The fight headlined an excellent
night of boxing promoted by Sanman
Promotions.
