World Boxing Federation (WBF)
Intercontinental Cruiserweight
Champion Sefer Seferi will
return to his real weight-class
and defend his title on Saturday
April 1 in home-town Burgdorf,
Switzerland, after a short
venture to the Heavyweight
division last September.
Nicknamed “The Real Deal”,
Seferi took on a big challenge
when he accepted to fight
world-class Manuel Charr in
Germany for the WBA
International Heavyweight belt,
but the added weight didn’t do
him any good and he lost on
points after a spirited effort.
The loss is the sole blemish on
his otherwise outstanding 21-1
(19) record, and now he is ready
to make the first defense of the
WBF title he won on April 23,
2016 at the very same venue, the
Markthalle. On the undercard
will be his older brother,
former WBO European champion
Nuri Seferi (37-8, 21 KOs).
Sefer will face former Brazilian
and South American Champion
Marcelo Ferreira dos Santos, who
brings a record of 22-10-1 (18),
and hasn’t lost a fight in
almost ten years. Now based in
Spain, where he had two of his
last three bouts, dos Santos has
stopped fourteen of his last
fifteen opponents inside the
distance.
“Fight
Night” at the Markthalle in
Burgdorf, featuring the Seferi
brothers and headlined by Sefer
Seferi vs. Marcelo Ferreira dos
Santos for the WBF
Intercontinental Cruiserweight
title, will be promoted by
Knockout Boxing Switzerland, run
by the Seferi brothers
themselves.
