Michaela Kotaskova, from Czech
Republic but based in Austria, is
still the World Boxing Federation
(WBF) world Welterweight champion,
after retaining her title for the
first time.
On Saturday night, November 30, at
the Hotel InterContinental in
Vienna, Kotaskova fended off the
challenge of veteran former world
titlist Mikaela Lauren from Sweden.
Lauren, by far the most experienced
and accomplished opponent of the
champions career, tried her best but
it was never enough, as Kotaskova
won most of the rounds.
After ten rounds of boxing, judges
Klaus Hagemann, Illhan Homovic and
Hilmi Bagci all scored it for the
champion: 98-92, 98-92 and 97-94.
A pro since April of 2022, Kotaskova
is now 9-0-2 (4), while Lauren goes
to 33-8-1 (14) after more than
fifteen years in the game.
The fight headlined Bounce
Fightnight, promoted by Boxteam
Bounce.
